MULTIPLE AWARD NOMINATED RAPPER RICK ROSS TO HEADLINE BLOCK PARTY THIS WEEKEND WITH MTV BASE

US rapper, songwriter entrepreneur and record executive Rick Ross is making his way to South Africa this December for two renditions of the Block Party. The events that will be taking place in partnership with MTV Base (DStv channel 322) are set to see the rapper known for his catchy growl return for his third stint in South Africa.

Ross will first take to Durban for the concert in partnership with GagasiFM at the Kings Park Stadium Outer Fields on Saturday, 21 December before headlining another concert at East London’s Buffalo Park Stadium in association with TruFM on Sunday, 22 December.

Ross who recently became a published author with the release of Hurricanes: A Memoir is renowned for launching Maybach Music Group (MMG) the label has since released albums by Meek Mill, Wale and Omarion. The first global single from Ross, “Hustlin’,” became a smash hit, due to the hypnotic line, “every day I’m hustling,” repeated throughout which led the single to be certified gold, a remarkable accomplishment for a new recording artist.

He debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart with his 2006 debut, Port of Miami while his sophomore album in 2008, Trilla – also debuted at No. 1. Following his success, Ross began to tour widely and joined forces with popular acts including Flo Rida, Nelly and T-Pain. His third album, Deeper Than Rap (2009), gaining him positive “unexpectedly fantastic” review from The New York Times.

Now, after 10 studio albums and 3 trips to South Africa – with Rick Ross’ last visit being a collaboration with local multiple award winning rapper Kwesta Dakar last year – the Grammy-nominated rapper will bring his hypnotic performances to Durban and East London. For the Block Party Durban leg of the concert Rick Ross will also feature local leading performances by DJ Tira, Riky Rick, Durban Gogo, and in East London, Ross will share the stage with Kwesta, Killa Kau and OK Malumkoolkat.

Tickets for the Block Party are now available at webtickets for R345 each, with VIP going for R850 a pop and VVIP for R2,500.00 a seat. The Rick Ross Block Party is brought to you in partnership with MTV Base (DStv channel 322), Durban’s GagasiFM on Saturday, 21 December and East London radio station TruFM on the Sunday, 22 December.
